<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display with high luminance while suppressing occurrence of color irregularity or a lateral line. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight device is equipped with a light diffusing plate 15 which is arranged in an optical sheet block 10 disposed between a liquid crystal panel 5 and a light source unit 7 with a large number of LEDs 12, controls incidence of display light emitted from the respective LEDs 12, and is made of a transparent resin. Dimming patterns 18, which face the respective LEDs 12, of which the size is larger than the outside diameter of the LED 12 and which have oblong shapes, are formed on the light diffusing plate 15 by printing with a light reflecting ink. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
