PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reproducing device for easily facilitating countermeasures to a plurality of different CODECs, and for facilitating countermeasures even to the development of new CODEC. SOLUTION: In converting encoded data into data of a packet format with predetermined length, and recording the data on a recording medium, decode software for decoding the encoded data is recorded on the recording medium. In reproducing the encoded data, the decode software is read from the recording medium, and the decode software is integrated into the decoder which decodes the encoded data.
