<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline storage battery with long life enabled to obtain a sufficient migration restraining effect without accompanying lowering of a charging property and generation of hydrogen even if an yttrium compound is added. <P>SOLUTION: The alkaline storage battery has a cadmium anode plate 11 filled with a cadmium activator, a nickel cathode plate 12 filled with a nickel activator, a separator 13 separating the above, and alkaline electrolyte in its external can 15. The separator 13 retains the yttrium compound. In the case of using the separator 13 retaining the yttrium compound, reaction of cadmium as an activator is not inhibited since the yttrium compound is not included in the surface of the cadmium anode plate 11. Since the yttrium compound has an effect of restraining crystal growth of cadmium hydroxide existing in the neighborhood of the yttrium compound, it is possible to restrain migration of cadmium hydroxide crystallizing on the separator 13. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
