<p>There is disclosed a method of expressing a therapeutically effective amount of a biologically active protein or peptide in a hepatocyte comprising oral administration of a vector, or of a therapeutic agent comprising the vector, wherein the vector comprises a nucleotide sequence encoding the protein or peptide operably linked to a regulatory sequence capable of driving expression of the nucleotide sequence in the hepatocyte, and wherein the hepatocyte harbouring the vector secretes the expressed protein or peptide into the systemic circulation locally.</p> |
