PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer which prints to both faces of a recording medium and realizes high-quality double-faced printing by correctly carrying out alignment at the time of printing even for a soft recording medium. SOLUTION: The thermal printer which carries out double-faced printing by thermal heads has a pair of transfer rollers 103 and 104 for transferring while holding the recording medium, the first thermal head 109 for carrying out printing to the front face of the recording medium, and the second thermal head 110 set at a position opposed to the first thermal head 109 via a platen roller 115 to carry out printing to the rear face of the recording medium. Printing of the front face of the recording medium to printing of the rear face is carried out in a state while the transfer rollers 103 and 104 hold a part of the recording medium.
