Disclosed is an organic electroluminescent display panel which may be of passive-matrix type or active-matrix type. When the organic electroluminescent display panel is of passive-matrix type, an organic function layer is held between a first line electrode and a second line electrode. The organic function layer contains a material with electroluminescent characteristics, and is arranged in a light-emitting region of the first electrode line. The light-emitting region is defined by an insulating layer having a window, and the insulating layer includes a gas barrier layer covering the peripheral portion of the window. A partition wall and the organic function layer may be sealed with a protective layer composed of an inorganic material. The partition wall may be formed in a region of the insulating layer where the window is not provided. |
