PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor in which a coating is efficiently formed without producing a coating defect and no image defect is induced when the photoreceptor is used for forming an image. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor comprises a support base 2 made of a conductive material and a plurality of layers on the support base 2, wherein in at least two layers soluble with the same solvent and formed adjacent to each other, the layer farther from the support base is formed by coating in a coating apparatus 1 employing a roll coating method. The support base 2 attached to the coating apparatus 1 is brought into contact while rotating with a coating roll 4 which is also rotating, and a coating film of a coating liquid 3 supplied to the coating roll 4 from a coating liquid supply means 5 is transferred to form the layer.
