<p>A photoactive layer (figure 1, 7) for an electrode is claimed, comprising a primary structure of particles of photoactive material 17, and a secondary structure of particles of a material that is more electrically conductive 19 than said photoactive material. The secondary structure is discrete from the primary structure and particles of said secondary material 19 are intermixed with particles of said primary material 17. The photoactive material may comprise iron oxide or tungsten oxide, and the conductive material can be an oxide selected from titanium, aluminium, antimony, tin, zinc or zirconium. The photoactive layer (figure 1, 7) can be deposited on the substrate 3 by spray pyrolysis.</p> |
