<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and a process cartridge which can suppress occurrence of fogging, black spots and image memory in an output image even when an image is formed by switching a plurality of modes. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with an electrophotographic photoreceptor 1-1, a charging means 1-3, an exposing means (an image input device 1-7), a developing means 1-2, and a transferring means (a transfer roller 1-4), and the apparatus carries out charging, exposing, developing and transferring while moving the peripheral surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor in a predetermined direction. The apparatus is further equipped with a controlling means to control the traveling rate of the peripheral surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor 1-1 so as to vary a period required from charging to developing. The electrophotographic photoreceptor 1-1 has at least a base coating layer and a photosensitive layer, wherein the base coating layer contains metal oxide fine particles with addition of an acceptor type compound. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
