The method involves sending a request for transferring a right associated to a digital data selected at a receiving terminal. A response to the transfer request is obtained based on a testing on the receiving terminal according to predetermined request criteria. The right associated to the digital data is transferred using the receiving terminal in case of positive response. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a device for transferring a right associated to a digital data between a transmitting terminal and a receiving terminal through a peer to peer communication network (B) a computer readable medium having instructions for implementing a transferring method (C) a computer program stored on a medium and having instructions for implementing a transferring method.
