FIELD: machine engineering, namely processes for sealing tubular articles by means of contact-butt welding, for example fuel element in the form of tube with plug in nuclear reactors. ^ SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of fixing tube end portion in attachment having recess; freely placing part of plug in electrode with possibility of its radial motion at welding process; compressing tube and plug whose maximum diameter is less than outer diameter of tube but more than tube inner diameter; heating parts by passing electric current; pressing-in plug inside tube for providing desired alignment of tube and plug. ^ EFFECT: stable quality of welded seam and the whole joint, simplified tuning of equipment. ^ 1 dwg |
