PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration isolation device capable of providing stable vibration isolation characteristics and avoiding fatigue or damage to an elastic material layer of elastic body or lead column, for excellent durability, vibration isolation effect, and manufacture property. SOLUTION: A vibration isolation device 5 comprises an elastic body 3 in which an elastic material layer and hard material layer are alternately laminated, and a lead column 4 which is placed in a hollow part 12 of the elastic body 3 that is defined by an internal peripheral surface 9. The ratio ap/Ar between the total area ap of shearing surface of the lead column 4 and the area Ar of loading surface of the elastic body 3 is 0.01-0.12, and the ratio Vp/Ve between the volume Vp of the lead column 4 arranged in the hollow part 12 and the capacity Ve of the hollow part 12 when the elastic body 3 is applied with a load with the lead column not inserted is 1.02-1.12.
