PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polylactic acid fiber having high knot strength and improving the operability of its weaving/knitting, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The polylactic acid fiber is characterized by being≥2.8 cN/dtex in knot strength,≥2.8 cN/dtex in loop strength and≥5.5 cN/dtex in linear strength. Particularly, it is preferable that the polylactic acid have a relative viscosity of 2.5-3.5 and a melting point of≥150°C. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
