<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphor having a wide excitation wave length range from ultraviolet to visible light and exhibiting an emission spectrum with a wide half band width in a range such as of red color, and also to provide an LED and a light emitter, that use the above phosphor, have an excellent color rendering property and emit white light. <P>SOLUTION: Powdered materials of Ca<SB>3</SB>N<SB>2</SB>(2N), CaO(2N), AlN(3N), Si<SB>3</SB>N<SB>4</SB>(3N), Eu<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>(3N) are prepared and mixed to have the following molar ratio of the elements, Ca:Al:Si:Eu=0.985:1:1:0.015. The mixed materials are baked at 1,000°C or higher for 3 hours in an inactive atmosphere and crushed to give one example of the phosphor having the composition of CaAlSiN<SB>2.83</SB>O<SB>0.25</SB>:Eu, which fulfills the above objectives. Further, the above phosphor is combined with an appropriate LED or light source, which emits ultraviolet to visible light, to prepare an LED or a light emitter having an excellent color rendering property and emitting light including white light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
