The method has the digital data values (Vm) multiplied with pre-attenuation values provided by a value table (2), for compensating amplitude- and phase-dependent attenuation of the end stage power amplifier (6), addressed by the amplitude of the digital data values. The output signal values (Va) of the power amplifier are fed to an adaption stage (9) for comparison with the original digital data values, for updating the value table. An Independent claim for a device for linearizing a transmission amplifier of a communications device is also included.
