<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium which can be used for an optical recording and reproducing device using a short wavelength laser and has satisfactory recording and reproducing characteristics even though the recording medium includes a reflection film comprising aluminum excellent in viewpoints of costs and handling and to provide its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: The optical recording medium includes the reflection film comprising aluminum and an oxide of a metal except aluminum. The manufacturing method of the optical recording medium includes a step for forming the reflection film on a substrate by a sputtering method. The method includes an atmosphere forming step for introducing the oxide of the metal except aluminum together with aluminum into a sputtering atmosphere and a step for depositing the oxide together with aluminum on the substrate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
