<p>A blank (10) for forming a box having a selectable height, the blank comprising a center panel (14) having a central portion (16); opposed first side panels (18) joined to the center panel along parallel first fold lines (20), each of the first side panels having an inner portion (22) and an outer portion (24), the inner portion of the first side panels including a plurality of first expansion flaps (26) defined by spaced apart fold lines (27) extending parallel to the first fold lines; opposed second side panels (28) joined to the center panel along parallel second fold lines (30) transverse to the first fold lines, each of the second side panels having an inner portion (32) and an outer portion (34), the inner portion of the second side panels including a plurality of second expansion flaps (36) defined by spaced apart fold lines (37) extending parallel to the second fold lines; and tabs (38) joined to opposite ends of the second expansion flaps along tab fold lines extending transverse to the second fold lines. During formation of the box the first side panels may be folded about the first fold lines to form a pair of opposed first side walls of the box, or may be folded about one of the fold lines defining the first expansion flaps. By selecting the fold line about which the first side panel is folded, the height of the first side walls may be varied to accommodate the object to be packaged.</p> |
