PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ribbon having a stitch structure optimally used as a welt of clothing, e.g. sleeve opening, pocket, collar and lining at the bottom of jacket and suit and further, a welt for various kinds of articles such as footwear such as shoes, personal effects such as bags, pouches and umbrellas, interior goods such as curtain, car goods such as sheet covers and further a hanging down part for hanging accessories down from outdoor good such as tent and rich in flexibility while keeping strong structure, having high strength and excellent also in wear resistance. SOLUTION: The ribbon has a ground weave part 1 knitted by a twist yarn 3' obtained by twisting desired numbers of filaments of a synthetic fiber having a desired fineness and a stitch part 4 knitted in a branched state in at least one edge part 2 of the ground weave part 1 by a twist yarn 3 obtained by twisting desired numbers of filaments of a synthetic fiber thicker than the ground weave part 1 and the stitch part 4 is knitted by a stitch-increasing part 5 for constituting the stitch and a crosslinking part 6 for stitch constitution branched from the stitch-increasing part 5 for constituting stitch.
