PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of obtaining satisfactory images, by accurately detecting the voltage applied to a member, such as an intermediate transfer body or a cleaning member, even when a current flows into a power source circuit from the intermediate transfer body, the cleaning member, or other members due to environmental changes in the temperature or the humidity, thereby applying the requested voltage to the intermediate transfer body, the cleaning member, etc. SOLUTION: A voltage detecting means has at least two resistances for voltage detection in which a voltage applied to a voltage applying member is divided, and the division voltages are detected. If the resistance values of at least the two resistances are R1 and R2, a requested bias voltage applied to the voltage applying member is Vp, and the value of the maximum current flowing in the resistances from the voltage applying member is Imax, the condition (R1+R2)×Imax≤Vp is satisfied.
