PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a period of time capable of supplying oxygen by improving rising characteristics of an oxygen pumping device. SOLUTION: The oxygen pumping device is equipped with at least an oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte 16, electrode membranes 17, 18 which are formed on the both surface of the oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte 16 and constitute positive and negative electrodes, and lead members 29, 30 derived from the electrode membranes 17, 18. In the oxygen pumping device, a setting voltage A is applied at initial driving time, and thereafter the applied voltage is reduced, and at steady operation time, the oxygen pumping device is operated at a setting voltage B.
