A ceramic bonding composition comprises a first oxide and at least a second oxide having a formula of Me<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>; wherein the first oxide is selected from the group consisting of aluminum oxide, scandium oxide, and combinations thereof; Me is selected from the group consisting of yttrium, lanthanum, cerium, praseodymium, neodymium, samarium, europium, gadolinium, terbium, dysprosium, holmium, erbium, thulium, ytterbium, lutetium, and combinations thereof. The ceramic bonding composition can further comprise silica. An article of manufacture comprising at least two members attached together with the ceramic bonding composition.
