PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head-up display device for vehicles which operates a reflection mirror to open and close and eliminates the possibility of breaking a motor or drive mechanism. SOLUTION: The head-up display device A for vehicles for displaying a virtual image V by projecting the display light L emitted by a display unit 2 to a reflection mirror 3 is equipped with the motor 7 for operating the reflection means pasted with a reflection mirror 3 to a supporting member 4 to open and close and a control means 14 having a clipping detection function which inputs load torque information of the motor 7 during the opening and closing operation of the reflection mirror 3, compares the load torque information and the prescribed threshold and controls the motor to stop the opening and closing operation by the supporting member 4 according to the result of the comparison.
