<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for authenticating a user of an application constituted so that personal authentication of the user is received only by a simple operation by eliminating the need of inputting a user ID and a password by the user himself/herself. <P>SOLUTION: The method consists of a step for enciphering a part of information included in an electronic certificate using a private key in an IC card, a step for reading the information enciphered using the private key from the IC card and the electronic certificate with an IC card reader/writer connected to a personal computer, a step for decoding the information enciphered using the private key read from the IC card using a public key included in the electronic certificate in the personal computer, a step for performing collation processing between the information decoded using the public key and a part of information included in the electronic certificate and a step for authenticating the user as a regular user of the application when pieces of information coincide as a result of the collation processing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
