摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent reduction of display quality, reduction of transmittance and the like due to vertical crosstalk to obtain display of high quality, in an active matrix liquid crystal apparatus. SOLUTION: A plurality of scanning lines are formed on a color filter substrate, a plurality of data lines, TFD elements and pixel electrodes are formed on an element substrate and a liquid crystal is encapsulated in between the both substrates. The data lines 32 and the TFD elements 21 are covered with an over layer 25 and pixel electrodes 10 are connected to the TFD elements through contact holes 25a formed in the over layer and further connected to the data lines. A lower limit value of the thickness of the over layer formed on the upper side substrate is regulated based on the following formula 1 and formula 2. Formula 1 is Vc=äC'<SB>TFD</SB>/(C<SB>Lc</SB>+C'<SB>TFD</SB>)}×Vd<V(T50) and formula 2 is Cp=ε<SB>0</SB>×ε<SB>ovL</SB>(S/d).
