PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein when a printer becomes light in weight and there is a possibility that its attitude is frequently altered, a user has to check the attitude of the printer every time printing is performed, degrading usability. SOLUTION: The printer comprises a printer main unit which is configured to be mounted in a first attitude and a second attitude, an attitude detection section which detects the attitude of the printer main unit, a printing section which can perform a first printing mode corresponding to the first attitude of the printer main unit and a second printing mode corresponding to the second attitude, and a printing mode control section which selects the printing mode performed by the printing section on the basis of the detection result of the attitude detection section.
