PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently apply a periodic boundary condition effectively using an automatic mesh division when a simulation model of heterogeneous material is created. SOLUTION: A representative region of the heterogeneous material is determined, and a finite element model of the representative region is created. When a node positioned at the other boundary surface is projected on one boundary surface of a finite element model as the projection plane, the node positioned at the other boundary surface that is projected on the projection plane is detected as a boundary node. By restricting the behavior of the detected boundary node with the behavior of a node forming the projection plane of the finite element of which node is projected, the periodic boundary condition applied to the finite element model is set, stored, and held. The simulation model is created by applying the stored and held periodic boundary condition to the finite element model. Instead of the finite element model, a model of which part is created by a mesh free method may be used. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
