PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reproducing and recording controller enabling an apparatus which commands recording and reproduction and a plurality of apparatuses which perform recording to divide and record stream data and continuously reproduce the stream data just by performing the operation similar to the one in the case of handling one series of streaming data respectively. SOLUTION: The recording and reproducing controller comprises: a directory service block 22 storing management data for making the streaming data recorded in a virtual recording space retrievable; a block 21 to be controlled for receiving the identification information of the streaming data and the command of reproduction or recording; a constitution information block 24 storing division management data having information specifying the storage device of the storage destination of the respective divided streaming data and the division order; a virtual disk control block 23 for editing the division management data and requesting the reproduction or recording of the streaming data to a plurality of slave disks 40; and a streaming control block for transferring the inputted / outputted streaming data while controlling a timing on the basis of the command from the disk apparatus control block 26.
