PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcast receiver and receiving method realizing a viewing and listening state more suitable for the content of a program by analyzing the content of a program according to program information and automatically adjusting the viewing and listening state of video image and voice, using the results of analysis. SOLUTION: The broadcast receiver for restoring the video and audio signals of a program from a received broadcast signal and outputting them while regulating the signals according to regulation data comprises: a means 26a for extracting the program information of a restored program; a means 26b for setting a plurality of status corresponding to the type of program content prepared previously according to the description matters of extracted program information; and a control means 21 for selecting a predetermined status according to a set point and regulating regulation data prepared in correspondence with the selected status.
