Bistropylidendiamine derivatives (I) are new. Bistropylidendiamine derivatives of formula (I) are new. asterisk (*) = stereogenic carbon atom that can be (S) or (R)- configured; either R 1> and R 2> = 1-12C-alkyl, 1-12C-alkoxy, 1-12C-halogenalkoxy, 1-12C-halogenalkyl, 4 -14C-aryl or 5-15C-arylalkyl; or R 1> and R 2> together = 3-12C-alkylene or 3-12C-alkenylene; R 3> and R 4> = cycloheptene derivative of formula (II) (where the arrows indicates a bond of the total residues to the nitrogen atom or as far as they show into the middle of an aromatic system, a bond of the respective residues to the aromatic support in any position); R 5> and R 6> = F, Cl, Br, I, NO 2, free or protected formyl, 1-12C-alkyl, 1-12C-alkoxy, 1-12C-halogenalkoxy, 1-12C-halogenalkyl, 4 -14C-aryl, 5-15C-arylalkyl or a group of formula L-Q-T-W1; L = 1-8C-alkylene or 2-8C-alkenylene; Q = O, S or NR 9>; T = carbonyl; W1 = R 9>, OR 9>, NHR 9>, N(R 10>) 2 (where N(R 10>) 2 may form a 5-6 membered cyclic amino group) or a group of formula L-W1 (sic), L-SO 2-W1 (sic), L-NR 12>SO 2R 12>, L-SO 3Z, L-PO 3Z 2, L-COZ or L-CN; Z = H or M; R 7> and R 8> = H, CN, F, Cl, Br, I, 1-18C-alkyl, 4-24C-aryl, 5-25C-arylalkyl or CO 2M, CONH 2 or SO 2N(R 9>) 2, SO 3M or T-Het-R 10>; M = alkali metal ion or optionally organic ammonium ion; R 9> = H, 1-12C-alkyl, 4-14C-aryl or 5-15C-arylalkyl; Het = O or NR 9>; R 10> = 1-18C-alkyl, 4-24C-aryl, 5-25C-arylalkyl or N(R 10>) 2 (as a 5-6 membered cyclic aminogroup); and n and m = 0-3. Independent claims are also included for: (1) preparation of (I); (2) ammonium salts of formulae (VIIIa-VIIIc); (3) transition metal complexes comprising (I); and (4) a catalyst (B) comprising transition metal complexes.
