PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily execute a partial reproduction operation, a signal processing operation or the like in a track without changing the state of the track on management information. SOLUTION: A recording medium is provided with a rewritably configured main data area for recording main data in a track unit, a first rewritably configured management area provided at a circumferential position inside the main data area to record first management information for managing at least a recording start position and a recording end position of the main data in a track unit recorded in the main data area and second management information for managing a start position and an end position for each set section established within the track unit by relative position information from the recording start position of the main data, and a second management area which is provided at a circumferential position inside the main data area and in which position management information for managing the position of the first management area is recorded so that the position management information can not be rewritten at pits.
