PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide small-sized electronic equipment with a light weight and small power consumption capable of illuminating a liquid crystal display panel even when an illumination optical path is selected. SOLUTION: An illumination section 21 of the liquid crystal display panel is configured of a light source 22, a square bar shaped light guide body 23 one end face of which receives light emitted from the light source 22, and a square plate shaped light guide plate 24 one end face of which receives light emitted from the light guide body 23. Further, a field illumination section 7 is configured of the light source 22 and a light shaping member 25 for shaping a luminous flux emitted from the light source 22. Then an electronically controlled diffraction optical element 26 for switching the light emitted from the light source 22 to the light guide body 23 or the light shaping member 25 is arranged between a light incidence face of the light source 22 and the light guide body 23 and a light incidence face of the light shaping member 25.
