A tool for removing and adjusting disc brake mountings has a socket drive with a multiple profile (16), e.g. a multiple pointed star shape, and an outer cylindrical profile (12) to reach the adjusting nut set into a cylindrical recess. The tool is connected to a manual driver either by a coupling profile (22) or by a shaped handle, e.g. a crank handle, tommy bar etc. The dedicated tool and manual drive ensure that the operator does not damage the brake adjuster through excessive torque, e.g. by using a power tool.
