Use of polyols (I) or their salts in cosmetics to prevent hair breakage. Use of polyols (I) of formula OH-CH 2-(CH) n(R 1)-(CH 2) x-A-(CH 2)Y-(CH) m(R 2)-(CH 2)-OH or their salts in cosmetics to prevent hair breakage. m, n : 0-6; x, y : 0-1; R 1, R 2H, OH, COOM, halo, 1-4C alkyl or NR 1 a, R 2 b; M : halo, alkaline or alkaline earth metal, or 1-4C alkyl; R 1 a, R 2 bH or 1-4C alkyl; A : -NR 3-C (O)-NR 4-, -S(O)(O)-, -S(O)-, -C(O)-, -S-, -O-, -N(R 5)-, -N +>(R 5) (R 6)-, -C(O)-O-, -NH-C(O)-, -NH-C (O)-O-, -NH-S(O)(O)-, -NH-S(O)(O)-NH-, -NH-C(O)-B-C(O)-NH-, -NH-C(=NH)-NH-, -NH-C(=NH)- or -NH-C (=NH)-NH-C(=NH)-NH-; R 3-R 6H or 1-4C alkyl; B : -(CH) p(R 7)-; p : 0-6; R 7H or OH.
