The heating wires (8.1,8.2) in a motor vehicle seat are energised by connecting wires (3.1,3.2). Monitor wires (1), consisting of steel cable with an insulating fusible sheath and connected to a fuse (11), lie alongside the heating matrix and if overheating arises the sheath melts and fuses the system.
