PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately capture different sizes of mammae using a single radiographic image detector in mammographic X-ray equipment having the radiographic image detector receiving the irradiation of radiation and recording a radiographic image. SOLUTION: This mammographic X-ray equipment uses a rectangular one as the radiographic image detector 12, is constituted to change over its installation part 13 between a first installation state where the short side 12b of the radiographic image detector 12 is installed in contact with the chest wall of a subject and a second installation state where the long side 12a of the radiographic image detector 12 is installed in contact with the chest wall of the subject. When the size of the mamma is relatively small, the radiographic image detector 12 is set in the first installation state and, when the size of the mamma is relatively large, the radiographic image detector 12 is set in the second installation state to capture the radiographic image.
