The electrical energy generator (10) has a fuel tank (16) and a compressed air tank (24) connected to a fuel cell stack (14,18). Air enters through an inlet (20) and is compressed to high pressure (24). A hand compressor (30) with a connection (26) to the air reservoir is used for starting the fuel cell electrical generator. The compressor assembly (23) and the fuel cell stack with a cooling system with a ventilation slit (36) are mounted on the floor of the housing (12).
