The device has a machine with a feed roll, with edge strips advanced under a pointed angle for a run direction with the workpiece narrow sides arranged to be pressed. A pressure roll, in the run direction is behind the feed roll for allowing the edge strips to be arranged. The feed roll (6) rotates an endless pressure roll (7) of the edge strips (4) which are twined along the pressure roll. In the run direction behind the feed roll several pressure rolls are arranged, where the pressure volume is returned to the neighboring pressure rolls at an away-lying pressure roll behind the feed roll.
