PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition for dyeing bacterial plaques, which improves selective dyeability of a coloring matter for dyeing bacterial plaques, controls dyeing of unnecessary parts such as gingival, oral mucosa, lips visually detects bacterial plaques and is excellent in taste. SOLUTION: This composition for bacterial plaques comprises xylitol, spice, a surfactant and the coloring matter for dyeing bacterial plaques. The surfactant is a polyoxyethylene hardened castor oil in the composition for dyeing the bacterial plaques. The coloring matter for dyeing the bacterial plaques is selected from tar-based xanthine coloring matters in the composition for dyeing the bacterial plaques.
