PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods and compositions useful in treating certain diseases herein termed "Aberrant Programming Diseases", including cancer and AIDS. SOLUTION: The method for treating an individual having an Aberrant Programming Disease comprises administering to the individual an effective amount of a composition selected from the group consisting of an expression vector, a double stranded oligodeoxynucleotide, and an antisense oligodeoxynucleotide, wherein the composition is capable of regulating expression of a transcriptional regulator, the transcriptional regulator being expressed by the Aberrant Programming cells, and further characterised by exhibiting a therapeutically useful change in the cell behaviour in a Programming Test.
