<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide structure capable of coping with the case where image quality is regarded as important and the case where the speed of image forming processing is regarded as important. <P>SOLUTION: The operation mode of an IOT 3 includes an operation mode (single paper kind productivity priority mode) in which the heating amount of a fixing device is changed for every kind of paper in the case of performing an image forming job by using a plurality of different kinds of recording paper, and an operation mode (mixed paper kind productivity priority mode) in which the heating amount by the fixing device is fixed constantly. When the kind of paper is changed, the image forming job must be interrupted until the surface temperature of the fixing device becomes fixing temperature fit to the another kind of paper in the single paper kind priority mode, but such interruption is not required in the mixed paper kind productivity priority mode. Since two operation modes are prepared in such a way, the single paper kind productivity priority mode may be selected in the case of regarding the image quality as important, and the mixed paper kind productivity priority mode may be selected in the case of regarding the processing speed or the productivity per unit time as more important than the image quality. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
