METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TWO-DIMENSIONAL IMAGE FORMATION OF SOLID-STATE IMAGE PICKUP DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the dark current correction which is not required to take a photograph one more time in a condition of no exposure to correct the dark current after taking the photograph of a subject, copes with the dispersion of the characteristics of individual pixels in the solid-state image pickup device and is not required to take an electric charge accumulation time into account at the photographing time. SOLUTION: An output ratio of the dark current component of the specified pixel or the pixel array of the image formation section in the prescribed time to the dark current measuring section is stored beforehand using the solid-state image pickup device which includes an image formation section which receives the exposure to carry out photoelectric conversion and accumulates the electric charge and a dark current measuring section to accumulate the dark current component without receiving the exposure. At the photographing time, a prescribed computation processing is applied to the accumulated electric charge signal which is taken out from the image formation section at the same time of the photographing on the basis of the above output ratio so that the image from which the dark current component is removed is obtained.
