PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer printer in which an idler mechanism can be provided without any spring even in a design that no gear to be engaged with an idler gear is provided on one oscillation tip. SOLUTION: A sublimation type thermal transfer printer 10 comprises a clutch gear 25, a dummy gear 26 having two or three teeth arranged with a space from the clutch gear 25, an L-shaped idler arm 24 which is arranged between the clutch gear 25 and the dummy gear 26 and rocked between the clutch gear 25 side and the dummy gear 26 side with the rocking axis as a center, an idler gear 23b which is installed on the idler arm 24 and constantly engaged with at least any one of the clutch gear 25 and the dummy gear 26, a feed roller gear 22 which is rotatable around the rocking axis and drives the idler gear 23a, and a resin plate integrated with shafts of various kinds gears and the dummy gear 26.
