PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage crushing method in which the crushed garbage is hardly stayed in a water discharge conduit even by a relatively small amount of water feeding, and a drive control method for a drive motor. SOLUTION: The disposer D for crushing the garbage by a crushing mechanism 4 interlocked with the drive motor 3 and discharging it with fed water is provided with steps S3-S5 for performing rotation by varying rotation speed with a gap of short time at activation; a step S6 for performing low-speed rotation; and a step S8 for subsequently performing high speed rotation. The steps S3-S5 for performing rotation by varying the rotation speed preferably repeats action that after the drive motor 3, for example, rotates at low speed for approximately 0.5 seconds, it is stopped for approximately for one second and preferably repeats action that after the drive motor is rotated at low speed, it is inversion-driven.
