DISPERSION LIQUID FOR ELECTROPHORESIS DISPLAY, AND PARTICLE FOR ELECTROPHORESIS DISPLAY AND ELECTROPHORESIS DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dispersion liquid for electrophoresis display which realizes the display of high reflectance and high contrast by enhancing electrophoretic properties of pigment particles in the dispersion liquid and has a high electric resistance. SOLUTION: This dispersion liquid containing an electrically insulating solvent, a pigment and a dispersant has 2,000 to 4,000 ppm water content. The dispersion liquid is encapsulated in microcapsules to form particles for electrophoresis display. An electrophoresis display device is formed by using the dispersion liquid for electrophoresis display or the particles for electrophoresis display. Electrification of pigment particles in the dispersion liquid is promoted, electrophoretic properties are enhanced and high reflectance and a high contrast ratio can be realized by incorporating a prescribed amount of water into the dispersion liquid and pulse driving is made possible by reducing free water molecules and suppressing reduction of the electric resistance value.
