<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that conventional information retrieval apparatuses have to obtain a single photographic picture which is singly photographed from e-mail or the like in preparing a face telephone directory, and no determination is made to see who originates a call only by observing a group photographic picture when a group photograph is used for the telephone directory, and a redundant background is found when an object is photographed in a small size even for the single photographic picture, and direct registration results in difficulty in observing the object. <P>SOLUTION: A face detector is configured by providing: a picture input device inputting the picture; a face picture database registering data on the face picture; a face region detector detecting first face regions for the number of persons; a face region extract device obtaining an appropriate viewing angle in performing registration on an electronic file and extracting the face picture involved in a second face region formed by expanding the first face region; and an electronic file register registering the face picture extracted by the face region extract device on the electronic file. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
