PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera system capable of appropriately controlling the exposure when using a light source to illuminate an object standing within a short distance. SOLUTION: A high illumination light 105 and a low illumination light 106 provided in an electronic camera are selectively used depending on the distance to the main object to photograph. The high illumination light 105 is built with a discharge tube, and the low illumination light 106 a white light emitting diodes, respectively. The low illumination light 106 has an illuminating angle wide enough not to illuminate outside the photographing field, and its light emitting windows 4, 4' (not shown) are located close to the optical axis of the photographing lens provided at the tip of the lens barrel. When making the low illumination light 106 emit light, the exposure calculation is made by measuring the light reflected on the object after lighting the illumination light 106 to obtain the shutter speed (shutter second T). Thus, the exposure calculation can be made in a state actually illuminating the main object.
