PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excrement-treating granular material produced by mixing a gel-like liquid highly water-absorptive resin, which resin is separated by wet classification and swelled or dissolved by making water absorbed, with a powdery plastic material or a mixture of a powdery plastic material and powdered organic waste materials and granulating the obtained, and to provide a method for producing the granular material. SOLUTION: The excrement-treating granular material is a granulated product having≥1 mm grain size, comprising a mixture of a dried product of a powder plastic material with a dried product of powdered organic waste materials and containing≤1 wt.% water-absorptive resin based on the mixture. The granular excrement-treating material containing little water-absorptive resin is produced by mixing a liquid water-absorbed highly water-absorptive resin with a powder plastic material or a mixture of powdered organic waste materials and granulating.
