A shroud 24 for maintaining uniform connection between the terminals of a pin and socket connection comprises a frame 54 which surrounds a planar member 52 with a plurality of apertures 60, the planar member having a first surface 56 which abuts a surface 38 of a circuit component 20 having an array of pins 34 extending from it, and a second surface 58 opposite the first surface which abuts a surface (102) of a socket array (14) which receives the array of pins. The shroud is placed between the circuit component and socket array during connection therebetween, such that each aperture receives a pin and a solder fillet 44 which surrounds the pin. The thickness of the planar member is greater than the distance which any one of the solder fillets extends from the component, so that none of the solder fillets come into contact with the surface of the socket array. Therefore the opposing faces of the circuit component and socket array are substantially parallel, thus maintaining uniform connection between the pins and sockets.
