METHOD FOR EXTRACTING ESSENTIAL OIL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for extracting essential oil in which reaction conditions in the pre-treatment of essential oil extraction can be set easily; the essential oil can be extracted from a residue in a high yield; and remaining pericarp after squeezing can be efficiently composted.

SOLUTION: The residue after squeezing fruits is subjected to acid treatment followed by ordinary pressure- or reduced pressure-steam distillation to extract the essential oil from the residue.
