A selection actuator for a knitting member, wherein a plurality of control magnetic poles (33n) to (34s) are fitted to the selection parts of a selection actuator, and the control magnetic poles (33n) and (33s) on the upstream side and the control magnetic poles (34n) and (34s) on the downstream side are controlled independently of each other based on the relative positions thereof to selectors. Since the selectors can be selected also in increments of approximately 1/2 of a pitch which can be selected by a conventional selection actuator and also a time used for the selection for each selector can be extended, the knitting member can be securely selected also by a knitting machine with fine gauge.
